Supernatural: Our Little World

For last week's episode of Supernatural I put my reactions up on "The Fangirl Initiative". I will be moving my reactions for Supernatural and Walking Dead onto that blog. I'll continue my discussions and questions on here as they come to my head. Sorry about not notifying you all, but now you know :)

Supernatural: Thin Lizzie

                         SPOOKY WOOKIE DETECTOR!!!! That should be the review, just that.

      I've been re-watching the series with my mom, and this episode reminded me of how much I love episodes revolving around ghosts. Yes, I know there wasn't really a ghost but soul-less people are pretty close. Interesting twist, and I also enjoyed the mention of Ghostfacers.

   
      The Lizzie Borden house is where last Wednesday's episode of Supernatural took place. My love for episodes where they can go on smaller hunts while it still ties to the bigger threat, knows no bounds. Lizzie Borden is a favorite of mine, and I felt a connection to Len the fanboy. Okay, I don't stalk buildings that I'm not allowed to go into...wait I do that. Well I didn't lose my soul, sorry Len. Len was a cool guy, and his whole deep reflection thing sparked some of my own. Supernatural, you always have do that to me.

      I'm happy to see that the boys are trying to grasp onto their original mission "saving people. Hunting things. The family buisness". Though the Winchester's can't do a 180 and be who they were before (hello purgatory and countless vessels), they can apply their original passion to what is happening currently. It's refreshing, and it pleases my fangirl heart.

Supernatural: Baby

      I'm still lost in the beauty that was last week's episode of Supernatural. I've spent most of my free time reading and watching the Supernatural casts' panels at various conventions. These guys are such humble people, it makes me very happy to be a part of this family. This being said, I'm marking this episode as one of my favorites. Top 25:)

      Seeing an entire episode from the Impala's perspective was refreshing. This episode had me squeeking. You read that right. Sometimes I make a noise I can only describe as squeeking, when I'm overwhelmed with joy. I mean, come on! Don't deny seeing close ups of the army men, legos, and carved initials didn't get to you.

      This episode with the not-ghoulpires (though I would totally call them that if that's what they were) reminded me of the evil dead movies. The scene where Dean is doing every possible thing to kill the creature, and the campy-ness of it is where I'm coming from. I know people tend to hate filler episodes, but this show needs the somewhat peaceful-relief. When darkness is all that consumes the brother's lives, a simple hunt and a storyline that follows the only home the boys know, it's welcomed with open arms.

      I'm also reminded of the tears I let out at the end when the brothers talk about them being home in the Impala. It got to me, and reminded me of all of the lessons I've learned from watching the two of them fight through the hard times.

       As a final note, I finally convinced my mom to watch the show:)))

Supernatural: Form and Void

^^YES!!!!

      This season is starting off wonderfully and I can't wait to see where it ends up (not in Heaven or Hell as we found out).

     Psychic Sam appears to be a thing again, which I approve of because those were "good" times. Weird phrase to use when speaking about this show but you know what I mean. I also forgot to mention how shocked and happy I was to hear Sam confront Dean in the first episode, about how the job has changed them and that they need to get back to saving people. It's this kind of character development that makes my heart swell.

      Castiel is tortured and unravels Hannah's plan, pushes the dreaded pins of the mind reading contraption out of his skull, and kills all of his betrayers. Sir, you are developing nicely. Note: Hannah's death was jaw dropping in the most literal sense.

      While Dean is away, we get to meet a new reaper named Billie. If I haven't said this before, I love the idea and the presence that reapers have in this series. They make my top 10 list of favorite supernatural beings. Billie mentions " the old Death" and I wondered if there will be a replacement. Sam learns that the forces that be plan on making their current life their last. No more coming back. It'll be interesting to see how that turns out. Sam turns to God in the chapel and prays for a sign, he has a vision of him in Hell. Like I mentioned before, I would love to see the return of Psychic Sam. Sam also discovers that holy oil and fire may be the cure for this rabid human disease.

Amara has shown that she has the power to move objects. She can also write out words in English by chucking building blocks into the wall. Nest time a child writes something with marker on a wall, be thankful. Jenna calls Dean to tell him something is wrong, and by the time he arrives, Jenna's grandma has called an exorcist. Father Crowley *claps like an idiot*. Jenna checks in on Amara and gets put into a possession-like state and kills her grandma. So I questioned if Amara was going to be full-blown evil baby or just a baby with a dark side. Well we found out she's evil and she eats souls. Lovely.

Supernatural: Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire

      We heard over the break from J^2 and Jeremy Carver that the show was returning to the basics for the brothers, which I'm not complaining. I loved the monster hunts, and unexpected evil. By the looks of the big, dark question mark that the Darkness is, the classic theme has returned. I'm sold with whatever they do, so yes this probably sounds biased. On with thoughts about the premier...

      Satisfaction guaranteed, The Darkness has come, no one has a clue what it is or how to cure it. The humanoid creatures that the people become kind of reminds me of croatoan. Which is FANTASTIC! Rabid humans that have no set progression to the illness and die if they don't consume another being. RAD. We meet a brave cop named Jenna who took out a construction crew of these vainy humans. I really like her character so far, and I'm hoping she lasts.

      On the other hand, Crowley leaves his vessel and temporarily inhabits a female. Not going to lie, I was slightly upset and thought Mark Sheppard was finished. But no fear! he returns to his normal body after some repairs by his minions. Castiel is trying his best not to go rogue and ends up being captured by Angels seeking revenge. I'm liking this dark Castiel, it's nice to see Misha showcasing the multiple personalities and dimensions he can offer to a character.

      Meanwhile Dean, takes Jenna and Amara to Jenna's grandma's house. Side note: Can we please see Dean change a diaper again??? Sammy gets it when his hide-in-a-closet-until-they-die plan fails. He just got done saying that it might be passed through the fluids, and he gets a mouthful of blood from the closet creature. The episode closes with us finding out Amara's birthmark is the Mark of Cain.

      So that leaves me to wonder if Amara is evil completely, or just a child of ill-fortune who is going to have to work hard to overcome her inner darkness? Could she be like the Amazon baby from season 7 Ep.13 (the Slice Girls) where she ages rapidly?

The Walking Dead: First Time Again

      And we're back with an amazing, blood-pumping season opener! I finally was spooked again by a walker, and I enjoyed it. Though I highly doubt I would want that in real life! RIP Carter. We picked up this season right where we left off: Porch Dick was killed as well as Deanna's husband Reg. We then get to see some of the most interesting flash backs I've witnessed on television. Way to go production team for not making it another run of the mill flashback episode.

      While I'm at it I want to proclaim my deep love for the black and white footage. I wish there was a way I could watch all of the previous seasons, as well as some of my other television shows, in black and white. I have a weakness for this kind of footage. I could see everything clearer and the details were PHENOMENAL! Someone needs to find a way to do that, or hey, maybe I will!

      I was happy to see some new/familiar faces last night from the comic books, as well as the breathtaking shot of the zombie pit.

      It was nice to see some of Rick's humanity return to him, or should I say start of apocalypse personality... either way I believe Morgan's return will be a blessing.

      I can't wait until the next episode, what am I saying?!?! THIS SEASON! It's nice to return here. I promise the Supernatural reviews are coming, and just so you know I don't have cable and these reviews will be up the day after their release.

Raving about Bates Motel

      I feel like I'm late to this game but Bates Motel has only been around since 2013. It still feels late in my mind. Anyways, I started this beautiful piece of a television show and got caught up in three sittings. It's that good! I'm trusting that you all know the story line of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. Take that masterpiece and spread it out into a possible 5 season television show. I'm so elated that I've checked into this series!

Supernatural Season 10 Finale

So I finally calmed down enough to post the FEELS that happened last Wednesday. "My Brother's Keeper" was genius. To anyone that has taken a break or found it hard to push through season 9/half-way through season 10...please just continue. It was emotionally satisfying and FULL of Character development.

I do realize that I have also haven't posted since before a certain charming geek girl passed. RIP Charlie I loved her beautiful madness and I will miss the constant verbal references to other things I love. Charlie was a character that I wish would have had more time on the show, but each spot she had was gold. Thanks again Felicia Day for portraying the beloved character, you rock!

I really enjoyed the Styne family, despite their fatal decision to kill Charlie. They were almost like the Leviathan in the sense that they killed (mostly) for survival. Their back story was fascinating, and I like the twist that Mary Shelly came to their house, saw the horror, and wrote a book that no one believed. They were such an interesting group and a great addition to the last half of this season. Shout out to Eldon Styne and his dapper fashion sense.

Now to the mind-blowing Finale. Dean just kills all of the people. Angry Dean is a favorite of mine, not gonna lie. Then we have the Crowley/ Rowena confrontation. Now I do wish that it would have gone down different, I'm not a big fan of her and what happened to demon Crowley?? I want his eyes to glow red again like in the previous episode :( I'd say that was my only disappointment with this episode. Then I cried like a child when Death died. Dean, why?!?! I do understand why but I just like to question motives for the sake of being a fangirl. Death was also one of my long-time favorites on the show. AND THEN WE HAVE THE LIFE THREATENING BEAUTY THAT IS THE DARKNESS.

My friends...oh my friends. I am in literal awe of how disturbingly beautiful the darkness is. The whole idea that God locked up the darkness to create the world. That the Mark of Cain was the KEY to locking/unlocking said darkness. That Lucifer was given said key and THAT is what corrupted his senses and lead him to jealousy, falling away from God, and being cast from Heaven. Finally giving Cain the mark to bear for spilling the first blood to show all the crime he committed. That right there is written genius. GAH I don't think I could love these writers more. They have found a way to write in these Biblical stories without blaspheming any of it.

Then the darkness strikes and rises out of the ground pillowing out in a black mass to slowly cover the earth. Season 11, here we come! I am BEYOND stoked for season 11, and if this is it, I feel that it will be the most satisfying series conclusion I've ever witnessed.

Blowing minds further: Let's just connect these happenings to previous encounters shall we

this was Michael possessing John Winchester's vessel telling Dean that he could have possessed anyone in their family line, further emphasising the fact that everything that is happening to Dean s.10 was meant to be and there's not a thing that he could do remove himself from this destiny.

and here we have Lucifer using Sam's vessel to let Dean know they have a plan for him. Something that won't change. I know I know, this conversation involved convincing Dean to give himself to Michael for a vessel but you know how sneaky those writers are. And guess what season this is from...season 5.

If Death is dead, can anyone die? Who will collect the souls?

Supernatural: Book of the Damned

SPOILERS!!!!!!!

Charlie is back!!!!! Love her.She is a walking talking reference maker...much like someone else I know *couch*me*cough*. She was wearing a Lumberjanes shirt :)))) I should take the time now to apologize for how many references I make in a single conversation, but I won't because it's classic stuff you should know. Anyways..... I'm glad to see Charlie back on the hunt and I hope she's here to stay for a bit. 

Castiel, or should I say BLASTIEL?!?! That library-shredding up after he got his grace back was satisfying to say the least. Metatron is on the loose, just as I hoped. I'm sorry people but I was getting tired of him being locked away. I don't like the guy one bit, but his annoyance grinds Castiel's gears and I do enjoy angry Cas, 

Dean's accepting the mark and Sam's burning books (just not the right ones). SAMMY!!!! Don't trust evil red-headed women!! Those gals aren't to be messed with: Abaddon, anyone that watches Game of Thrones knows how cunning Melisandre is, and now Rowena. Those three could really screw with the world. 

Will the Winchester's ever learn?

Probably not...and I can't use the whole "after they're dead" part of that phrase because we all know they'll find a way out.

Also, sadly we lost Jaap Broeker in January (I didn't realize this until the credits rolled for this episode) and I wanted to pay tribute to this great man. He played many great roles, but the most memorable for me was his role as Yappi in the X Files


reminding me to always stay true to what I believe.

The Walking Dead: Conquer

SPOILERS SWEETIES !!!

Okay so there was no physical crying on my end tonight, but internally I was crying because Father Gabriel is still alive. This season Finally was a satisfying one to say the least. 

Morgan appears to be the only person in this world that seems truly at peace. Every life is precious. Even men that mean to kill and use him as bait were given the chance to survive, He honked the horn to find out if his coast was clear, and shut the door to give them the option between life and death.

Starting with Glenn and Maggie: Maggie is becoming more like her father everyday. The strength between the two of them is phenomenal, separately making the same decision to spare justifiable bloodshed. Both had reason to kill these betrayers, considering one let walkers in and the other fired their gun, but they chose to keep the blood off of their hands.  What's to come of Nicholas? Glenn's obviously done with him. And did anyone else notice the weird shape on the side of Father Gabriel's hip? Is it a weapon? I really hope not.

Sasha...I found her actions strangely calming. I know, I know. Laying down in a pit of double-deceased walkers could warrant the title of "town lunatic", but her peace is found in this version of the world. She's camouflaged by their smell and hidden from the the vain society that is in need of her protection.

Rick wasn't only leveled by Michonne but sleep brought him back to reality. Good to see justice served at the end, and the Alexandrian's are finally coming to terms with the world's downfall.

Daryl and Aaron about gave me a heart attack tonight. I ADORED the boney woman walker under the trailer. She reminded me of Stephen King's Creepshow. Other than that, Daryl's triple chain whip was everything I never knew I needed. I vote new weapon of choice! It's the little things that make me happy.  The wolves are brilliant in their own strange nature. I like their addition to the story line.  

I can't wait to see what season 6 has in store for us and the gang. And if you didn't get to see the Fear The Walking Dead sneak peak, go watch it! I'm ecstatic to see the beginnings of the apocalypse. Something about sudden zombie home invasion and desperate, overcrowded trips to the store where a can of beans could mean your death...yesss.

The Walking Dead: Try

SPOILERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

So this is a little late, and it might be short, but here we go.
ALL OF THE W's!!! Everywhere carved in the heads of the dead. We finally got some Daryl action, and I was mighty disturbed by the gutted woman tied to the tree. Brilliance in having her wake up! Even more creepy.

So does Nicholas have Rick's blender gun? Glenn's talk was great. For him to be able to control the urge to take revenge, I applaud him.

We had an all-women zombie massacre. Sasha was going off the deep end, which I thought would cause her to leave the group initially. I'm happy that she's not leaving, and that her aggression is being channeled into taming the undead.

Carl's got a girlfriend *insert kissy face*. On the other hand, Rick has some frustration that breaking a window couldn't even solve. How the community turns a blind eye to abuse is unsettling. Someone needs to die, and I vote porch Dick. But Michonne put a stop to Rick's heartfelt reality check...so I guess porch Dick gets to live another week.

I heard that the season finally is going to make us cry, as it did Glenn in next week's preview.
Not ready.
I don't wanna cry.

The Walking Dead: Spend

Again...SPOILERS!!!!

To quote Abraham, MOTHERDICK WAS THIS EPISODE INSANE!!! So many things were happening and rip-your-face-off intensity at every turn (sorry, too soon).

So not to get ahead of myself, let's discuss Carol and the gang back at Alexandria. First off, Daryl got his bike working and it's like a hybrid, total-apocalypse jacked bike. Love seeing him back on the road. Next we have Carol unfolding the dirty truth behind Sam's fits of anger. Now Carol's hatching a plan with Rick to take down the abusive "porch dick" aka Pete. And finally we see a hypocritical "pastor" Gabriel tear out, what looks like the whole new testament, and accuse the group of being from Satan. Possible symbolism behind his actions may be that the New Testament holds some of the prophesies of the end of the world, and the fact that he remains there could cause him to feel betrayed. Keep in mind that he shut out his entire congregation to save himself, just to exemplify my calling him a "hypocrite" earlier.

Now onto the Mission outside of the "Safe Zone". This whole episode revolved around self-preservation. The title might hint at what each individual must "spend" or give up in order to survive, and sometimes sacrifice is it's own way of lasting. Making a name for yourself, and an example to others because self-sacrificial people are the heroes in this new world. 

The construction yard was a buzz, and I was thrilled to see Abraham step it up, and take control. Not to mention take out those walkers medieval-style. Gotta build up that wall. We see our first example of abandonment here when the men were going to bail on one of their own, because a heard of walkers sneak attacked a man while he was sending a fax to Cleveland. 

Then, the whole episode took a turn for a jaw-dropping worst (or better, because those special effects were astonishing). We got another suited-up walker, and I was geeked to say the least. I'm so happy when they throw in random challenges for the group, and it was nice for Aiden to realize that the walkers are still a threat. Explosion happens, and now we have a unconscious Tara and Aiden ran through by two metal poles. Honestly, if Aiden would have made it out I think it would have been enough to redeem him from his arrogance, and bring him into the real world. Sadly, no redemption and he was abandoned by his friend Nicholas. You jerk, I hope exile comes upon you. Sorry, not sorry.

Eugene overcame his cowardly personality, protected Tara, grew a pair to take out some walkers, and almost shot Nicholas point-black. You go Eugene! You and your mullet!!

Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to Noah, we'll miss you. He finally has a dream to be an architect of some sorts and he freaking dies! Back to the whole sacrifice thing, Noah gave himself to save Glenn almost as a payment for Tyreese and Beth. They saved him from hospital captivity, and showed him that even the lost can make it. Just to sum up what Steven Yeun (Glenn) shared on Talking Dead, he spoke of how Noah mirrored Glenn's character arc. He saw himself in him, and that's partially why it was so hard to see him die at the hands of walkers. Up close on the other side of the glass he witnessed, not only a friend, but his former self die. 

This episode was an emotional roller coaster, but chalked full of symbolism and growth. It isn't enough to say this is one of my favorite episodes of this season, but one of my favorite episodes in the entirety of this series.

Things are changing. Characters are altering their entire mental philosophies in order to make it. "This is the beginning" marked Noah's first journal page, and I took that message from this episode to hold for the future of not only the show, but for my personal journey.

The Walking Dead: Forget

EPISODE DISCUSSION AKA SPOILERS!!!!

      I'm now paying attention to the names of the episodes, they seem have a message within themselves. Last week's being "Remember", they recalled everything that they had gone through up to this point. This week's "Forget", a entertaining party that would be featured in Martha Stewart's magazine. Speaking of Martha Stewart, NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR DANG PASTA MAKER!! Seriously, it's the apocalypse, be lucky you have food. 

      It was basically revealed, to the comic book readers, that Sasha is going to replace Andrea as the town's sharp-shooter. This gets me pretty excited, I was worried about Sasha for a minute there. Anyone else notice that the two dead walkers laying on the ground (When Carol, Rick, and Daryl met up) looked like the couple in the photos Sasha was using for target practice? Just a theory.

Then we get to see another horse go down :( RIP Buttons. I'm liking Aaron's proposal to Daryl, and I can't wait to see Mr.Dixon on a bike again. It's been too long! I might be alone on liking the idea of Daryl searching for recruits, in the aspect that he'll be able to tell a person's character right off the bat. His walls are built up so much that trust will have to be proven completely before someone new steps in the gates. What I don't like is Daryl being gone for long periods of time, and risking being captured by hidden horrors. 

      Carol's decided flowers are a thing of the past, it's cookies now! Watch out boy, she'll getcha. Love, love, LOVE the sheepish character she is playing around the Alexandria residents. 

      They finally noticed the W's creeping around them in a walker's head tonight. The thing is, the walker was alive (if I'm not mistaken). I believe it was some kind of set up from these so-called "wolves", maybe so they could get away unseen.

      And then the party happened. We met "porch dick", to quote the hilarious Chris Hardwick (the Nerdist, Talking Dead host). Rick made a move, one that I don't like because it's basically what Shane did in season 1. The only difference is: Jessie's husband is alive and Rick is fully aware of it. Deanna convinced Sasha to come to the shindig full of blissfully unaware folk causing a major blow up on Sasha's part after a question about a preferred meal. Her statement about the woman "being worried that she won't like it" was a GREAT slap of reality for the group. The title may have been "forget" but I don't think the group will have any time for that, as long as they don't fall into a child-like mindset. 

Also, the walker scratching on the walls...Foreshadowing.

The Walking Dead: Remember

WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS

So tonight we said bye-bye to Rick's beard and my mind just kept repeating "OH WHYYYYYY". I admit that I am a lover of bearded faces. Moving on from that sad moment... Daryl kept his dirty self the same by refusing to give in to the shower, and I'm thankful because that bathroom stole Rick's rough bearded face. I'm sorry, now on to some actual thoughts.

Mysterious comic book girl that creeps over the fence...I'm wondering if she has Rick's blender gun??? She managed to get out of Carl's sights. Also, is she replacing the young female role in Carl's life that Sophia played in the comics? For those of you that don't read the comics, Sophia, aka barn walker, was still alive at this point and became Carl's "girlfriend" of some sorts. 

Another comic-lead question: Who will replace the position that Andrea played in the books? Our sharp shooter is missing and that's not something that I want cut out of the show. Maybe Tara could step up and take 'em out? I would love to see her character developed more. Talking about her stepping up, how about those special effects tonight? Some may find it utterly disgusting but the way the flesh peeled off of that walker was FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!! 

The ending scene with Carol, Rick, and Daryl was a great gateway into how the group will approach the Alexandria Safe Zone, and I'm excited for what's ahead.
